Independence

My two friends, Brooklyn and Natalie, and I went to The Band Perry and Gloriana concert this past weekend. Although the concert was in Billings, a good three hours off the ranch, we loved getting dolled up and singing our little hearts out. One of their songs, entitled "Independence," totally gripped me the first time I heard it over a year ago. Listening to it again last night, and especially hearing it live, filled me with a renewed love of my spur of the moment lifestyle that lands me at the end of a long windy road before I even remember to take a breath.

Living Life

Strangely enough, I'm already half way through my season here at Mountain Sky. The ranch time warp totally takes over my days. I've spent the majority of my time working in the dining room, and am happy to report that I am feeling comfortable and confident in my role as a manager. It was a challenge that I nervously but enthusiastically accepted and looked forward to attempting. Fortunately, I have gotten great positive feedback from my managers, guests and the staff beneath me. My days can be long and stressful, but I can honestly and whole heartedly say this is the best job I have ever had.

Outside of work, I have kept fairly busy with a diversity of activities. I've made a couple trips in to Yellowstone, and am now the proud owner of an annual pass. Hiking, fly fishing, trout watching, reading and sun bathing make up the consistency of my day long sojourns into the park.

A few weekends ago some friends and I participated in the Dirty Dash - a friendly yet muddy obstacle course race that promotes drinking beer and getting as filthy as possible while having the time of your life. Naturally I excelled. Here's a few shots from our grimy adventure.

This past Saturday afternoon was spent strawberry picking at Rocky Creek farm. Though we missed the main season and therefore most of the pickable strawberries, we still had a fantastic time and I got to cross another new activity off my list.
