My Philosophy

California Dreamin'

Here I go again... I have just arrived in sunny San Diego. It's the first time I have moved somewhere without a specific purpose, which is both frightening and exhilarating. I have no car, no job, and cannot move in to my apartment until Feb 2. But with my will of steel, and with the help of some incredibly generous friends, I have no doubt that this season of my life will be fruitful. Sometimes I worry my absence of fear under most circumstances will be detrimental, in the same sense that a person numb to pain indicators can injure themselves without realizing it. But I've made it this far, and my youth and curiosity will allow me to move only in one direction.

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”
